The saying goes that behind every great man is a great woman. At Fame15 Creative, we believe that behind every great woman is an even greater mom.
In honor of our amazing mothers, we're sharing a couple of our favorite snaps - and sending a huge, never-ending hug and kiss to our moms. Where would we be without these ladies? We don't know. We don't want to know. We just want to say this: Mom, thank you. We love you. Happy Mother's Day.
Meet Thelma Ruth, 100% Texan and 100% Yankee. Don't try to do the math. Mom met dad at the age of 18 and, after being whisked around the country (I was ALMOST born in San Francisco), they settled in Pennsylvania and eventually had me. While I was growing up, Mom saw to it that I had the best childhood she could give me -- which was a mix of letting me know, every day, how much she loved me; spoiling me just enough (but not too much); and making sure I had all the resources I needed to be on track to have a good and successful life. I know there were some "dark years" (I was a teenager... weren't we all?), many heart breaks, job stresses, so many things I gave her to worry about - but her confidence in me that I would pick up the pieces and keep moving forward is one of my favorite things about our relationship. Her care and concern is genuine, but she knows that I will always be OK. I love you, Mom. Thank you for trusting me to be who I am - knowing that many of your grey hairs (under that gorgeous blonde) are from me.
Inspiration, friendship and love are immediate thoughts when thinking of my mother. Our journey throughout our life together was not always easy, but she always pushed through to bring us out on top. My mother's tenacity and drive for life has inspired me to become the woman that I am today. I thank her and love her for all that she has taught me and showed me on this wild journey we share together. Our friendship grows stronger everyday and I am grateful to be called her daughter! Mom, I love you and I wish you continued happiness and strength everyday!
Let me tell you about my mom. She's a first-generation, Greek-American gal from New Kensington, PA, with a soprano singing voice that'll melt your heart. The daughter of a coal miner, Mom graduated high school at the top of her class, worked her way through Indiana University of PA (IUP), and taught school in PA and Texas. Later, she went on to become a mother to 4 kids, raising a blended family with grace, humor, and love. Today, she's still the rock of our massive family. And the center of our hearts.
